At Intermountain Dental Specialists,  we know every person’s dental needs are unique. That’s why we offer a comprehensive selection of treatment options in a comfortable, convenient atmosphere. We’re confident we can provide superior dental care that you can trust.

Endodontics

Endodontists are dentists who specialize in maintaining teeth through endodontic therapy procedures, involving the soft inner tissue of the teeth, called the pulp.  All dentists are trained in diagnosis and endodontic therapy, however, some teeth can be especially difficult to diagnose and treat.  That’s why you may have been referred to an endodontic specialist.

In addition to dental school, endodontists receive two or more years of advanced education in this kind of treatment. They study root canal techniques and procedures in greater depth, for diagnosis and treatment of more difficult cases. For this reason, many dentists choose to refer their patients to an endodontist.

We use the latest technologies and will make you feel comfortable during your procedure. We will talk you through each step and answer all of your questions.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral surgery is the area of medicine concerned with correcting problems or damage to the mouth, teeth and jaw. It is often referred to as “Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery” which combines oral surgery with surgery on the structures of the face, sinuses and neck.

Oral surgery is commonly performed to remove wisdom teeth, impacted teeth, prepare the mouth for dentures, perform dental implant reconstruction, repair jaw problems and diagnose oral pathology. Oral surgeons may also perform more advanced procedures as required after trauma or severe disease damages the structures of the mouth.

Our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Jared Rasmussen, DMD, with years of experience in Oral Surgery, practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with years of expertise.

Orthodontics

Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics is the formal name of the dental specialty concerned with the diagnosis, prevention, interception, guidance and correction of bad bites. The purpose of orthodontic treatment is to create a healthy bite—straight teeth that properly meet opposing teeth in the opposite jaw. A good bite makes it easier for you to bite, chew and speak.

If your teeth are crowded, protrusive, spaced too far apart, meet in an abnormal way, or do not meet at all, correction may be recommended. Braces and aligners are the “appliances” orthodontists most commonly use to guide your teeth into their proper positions. Retainers preserve and stabilize the results of your orthodontic treatment.

In the past, orthodontic treatment was associated with children and teens, but today many adults seek orthodontic treatment to correct long-standing problems, or problems that stem from maturational changes. Orthodontists can help people of any age achieve a healthy and beautiful smile.

Our mission is to provide you with the highest quality orthodontic care in a warm, friendly environment that you will want to keep coming back to every month!

We love to get to know you! We take the time to answer your questions and put you at ease. Our staff is very knowledgeable and can assist you with any questions that you may have.

Periodontics

A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, and in the placement of dental implants. Periodontists are also experts in the treatment of oral inflammation. Periodontists receive extensive training in these areas, including three additional years of education beyond dental school.

The overall objectives of periodontal treatment are to eliminate disease, restore the mouth to normal comfort and function, and then maintain health over a lifetime. The periodontist works with your general dentist to help accomplish those goals.

Dr. Lloyd V. Tilt, DDS, MS is a periodontist familiar to many dentists and patients in both Weber and Davis counties. He is up to date with the latest techniques for diagnosing and treating periodontal disease. In addition to conventional periodontal and implant services, Dr. Tilt has pioneered the use of lasers in the comprehensive treatment of periodontal disease. His research has been published in three peer-reviewed dental journal articles and one dental text.
